Paul Signac - Les Andelys, The Washerwomen (1886)
Relevance to my work:
Similarly to Rysselberghe and Seurat, Signac's use of pointilism inspired my use of pointilism to create detail within my work. The use of colour and tone within his work is particularly accomplished.
“Les Andelys is a village in the Seine near Rouen. Signac spent time there in summer 1886 experimenting with the pointillist painting style developed by Georges Seurat. Weh exhibited in 1887, this and other works Signac painted were praised for their luminosity and complex compositions.”
